The Billionaire’s Secret Quartet by Thalassa Chapter 1279

Chapter 1279

But she didn’t push Lysander away.

Chapter 1279

It wasn’t that she didn’t care about Callum’s feelings, but she wanted to make it clear to him that pining for her was meaningless.

Thalassa was brooding when out of the corner of her eye, she caught a glimpse of a pair of piercing, deep-set eyes. She tried to look away, but Lysander’s icy gaze pulled her back.

Their eyes met.

His eyes seemed to swirl with a blizzard, threatening to consume her very soul.

Thalassa’s heart pounded like a drum inside her chest. What had she done now to upset

him?

Locked in a stare with Lysander, her heart racing, she worried he might lose it on the boat. When he lost his cool, it was a disaster.

“Look! There’s a bird diving for fish-it’s fascinating! It can swim and even dive underwater for several minutes without coming up,” Evelyn suddenly exclaimed, pointing excitedly at the surface of the lake.

Evelyn’s voice broke through Thalassa’s tension and embarrassment. She quickly turned to Evelyn with a smile and said, “Indeed. There are so many wonders in the world that we’ve yet to see. We should really get out travelling more and explore the world.”

“I’m not getting any younger, and there’s not much time left to wander,” Evelyn sighed softly.

Her words sent a shiver through Thalassa. She always feared Evelyn’s morose talk, worried she might do something rash-that’s why she had brought her on this trip.

And yet here was Evelyn, sounding downcast again,

Thalassa’s cheeks turned pale with concern.

How she wished she could return to her mother’s side to hug her and ease her worries.

But Lysander held her tightly, preventing her from escaping.

“You can still wander the world at a hundred, let alone at fifty!” Lysander’s deep, magnetic voice suddenly rang out.

He was responding to Evelyn’s earlier lament, offering her reassurance.

Thalassa was surprised. She turned to glance at him, his ruggedly handsome features sharp and resolute, exuding a potent masculine charm.

His allure made Thalassa’s breath catch. Charming men always had a way of stirring

one’s soul.

Moreover, his words were meant to comfort her mother.

Evelyn hadn’t expected a response from Lysander and looked at him incredulously, then she smiled and said, “Mr. Sinclair is quite right.

She gave a nervous chuckle and gazed into the distance, no longer daring to voice her gloomy thoughts. Lysander’s mere words had tightened her nerves significantly.

They were on a motorboat, which had been cruising smoothly until it struck something in the water. The boat rocked violently.

“Ah!” Thalassa’s body lurched with the motion.

Lysander’s arms wrapped around her, keeping her from being thrown overboard.

“Splash!” Caught off guard by the sudden jolt, Evelyn tumbled into the lake suddenly.

Water sprayed everywhere as Evelyn flailed on the surface, crying out, “Help!”

Her plea for help was cut short as she began to sink.
