The Billionaire’s Secret Quartet by Thalassa Chapter 1301

Chapter 1301

Susan’s anger subsided a bit after her parents talked her down.

Thalassa stepped out of the hospital wing, adamant that Ethan should get his back checked out at the surgical clinic.

“I’m really okay. It just stung a bit when the boiled water splashed on me, but it’s all healed now,” Ethan said, not too keen on the idea.

“Better safe than sorry. You’re the CEO of the Crawley Group. What if you end up with a burn scar for life?”

Thalassa felt a pang of guilt. It was in trying to shield her that Ethan had been scalded.

“I’m not a delicate guy. Besides, a man with scars is just a man with stories-no big deal.” Ethan walked beside Thalassa, noting her return to her usual composed self.

He couldn’t help but voice his confusion.

“It’s weird, you know? In the past, if someone as much as looked at you the wrong way, Lysander would react like they poked a bear. Today, you caught my hand, but he didn’t even flinch,” Ethan observed.

Thalassa chuckled softly, “Didn’t you hear his grandfather? He’s got a new lady, one he’s planning to marry.”

Lysander Sinclair’s fascination with her was finally fading.

Once he got tired of her, he became indifferent. It was only because his interest was fresh that he had such a strong desire to stake his claim.

And now, he was moving on.

It was for the best, Thalassa thought. She could be free to live her own life.

Yet, the thought of her children having a stepmother still sent a stabbing pain through her

heart.

“I don’t think that’s it. Lysander isn’t the fickle type,” Ethan said. Among their group, Lysander was the most devoted. Otherwise, after a fleeting encounter and just one night together with Thalassa, he still remained faithful to her memory for five years, even believing she was dead.

“He is unpredictable and inscrutable. How could you possibly understand him?” Thalassa replied, stopping in her tracks. “Here we are. There’s a doctor inside. Go have a look, and I’ll wait for you out here.”

They chatted all the way to the outpatient department of the clinic.

Seeing Thalassa’s insistence, Ethan would seem too fussy if he refused again, so he

entered the exam room.

The doctor asked him to remove his shirt.

He did so, and after examining, the doctor said, “You’ve got blisters from the burn. You’ll need to apply ointment regularly. I’ll prescribe a burn cream for you to use at home.”

Spurred by Thalassa’s earlier comment, Ethan asked, “Will it leave a scar?”

He didn’t actually care about scars. It was just that the topic had been brought up by Thalassa, and now he was subconsciously repeating the question to the doctor.

“That depends on how well it heals and on your body’s response. Some people are more prone to scarring than others. Even if it’s minor, there could be some scarring,” the doctor answered.

Thalassa sat outside, hearing the conversation within clearly.

From her perspective, Ethan’s concern about scarring indicated that, despite his words, he

did care about it.

A heavy sense of guilt weighed on Thalassa’s heart.

Again, she’d dragged someone else into her troubles.

“Hey, let’s get going. What are you daydreaming about?” Ethan waved his hand in front of Thalassa’s face to snap her out of her thoughts.
