The Billionaire’s Secret Quartet by Thalassa Chapter 1303

Chapter 1303

She worked for him, earned bonuses, and pulled in a paycheck that was unmatched anywhere else.

She had been in Ethan’s company, and it had been the most contented, most comfortable job with the most satisfying pay she ever had.

When Ethan saw the surprise on her face, he cracked a wry smile and said, “The last few times, I sent you to negotiate with Lysander and you clinched the deal. It was no accident-I saw potential in your relationship with Lysander. I actually intentionally leveraged your personal connection to benefit my own company.”

Thalassa’s finely arched brows twitched ever so slightly. Though she was well aware of these machinations, she didn’t expect Ethan to openly tell her.

“Recently, a lot of things happened because of the Crawley Group’s collaboration with the Sinclair Enterprises. Even Leopold Sinclair thought that…” Ethan trailed off, unable to

finish.

Léopold was a good kid. He was an ambitious and hardworking man.

And yet, he had lost his life over this deal, and every time Ethan thought about it, his heart ached so fiercely that he struggled to breathe.

It was then that he realized how terribly wrong his actions had been.

At the mention of Leopold’s name, Thalassa’s heart clenched painfully, and the tears she had managed to fight back now threatened to burn her eyes once again.

The name Leopold had become her unspeakable sorrow.

“Stop,” Thalassa pleaded, her voice heavy as she fought back tears, urging Ethan to say no

more.

“I know your guilt. You shielded me from that scalding water once, preventing burns, and I’ve helped you with the contracts. We’re even now. No debts, no regrets, and no need for self-reproach.”

With these words, Thalassa turned and walked away.

She feared that if she stayed any longer, her tears would flood like a breached dam, making her more embarrassed in front of Ethan.

Ethan didn’t follow her. He stood still, watching Thalassa’s sorrowful retreating figure.

His hand hanging by his side curled slightly, his breathing quickened.

Leopold had been a sun-kissed youth who loved racing, but a tragic accident during a corporate deal had robbed him of his life.

Chapter 1303

At first, Ethan hadn’t realized his mistake. But as time passed, he came to a stark realization. If he hadn’t signed that contract with Leopold, if he hadn’t handed Leopold’s job over to Sinclair Enterprises, perhaps Leopold would still be alive.

The moment this realization hit, Ethan’s heart twisted in agony.

Just the thought brought a mist of tears to his eyes, the pain was unbearable.

He imagined how much those who cared for Leopold must have suffered at his loss.

Caught in his reflections, Ethan noticed Thalassa was about to leave the hospital grounds.

He snapped back to reality and hurried after.

“Thalassa, get in. I’ll drive you home,” Ethan offered as he opened the door to his car.

Thalassa didn’t even glance his way and said, “No need, I don’t want to hold you up. I’ll

catch a cab.”

Ethan’s smile faded, “What, not even going to afford your boss that little courtesy?”

Thalassa gave him a sidelong look. He appeared so anguished just moments ago, and now he could afford such a light-hearted smile.

People in high places do have a knack for emotional agility, seamlessly switching between sorrow and levity.

Without further ado, Thalassa got into the car and gave her address, “Thank you then. To

Star Harbor Villa.”
